Single Axis Rail System

For
March 2006, 3D Digital Corp. has introduced to the
market a single axis rail system to work in conjunction
with the Optix 400 series scanners. The RealScanUSB
software allows for easy control of the rail motion,
and has the option of fully automatic scanning with
the push of a button. This feature allows for quick
and easy scanning and alignment of files, giving
a complete polygon model. There is absolutely no
need to manually align scan data when using this
system since each scan’s coordinate data will be
synchronized with the amount of travel on the rail.
Upon completion of development
for automatic scanning, the company has added another
additional option to the Optix 400 series.

The
included software allows for integrated rail and scanner
controls, with a command for automatic scanning. In this
auto-scan mode, the scan action and scanner travel is synchronized.
Users will be able to set a starting and stopping point
along the rail, and with one mouse click the system will
begin to scan, then travel, then scan, etc. All the shells
are aligned automatically in relation to the travel distance,
which can also be altered by the user.


 

 

Once
all the scans are finished, there is no need for any manual
alignment. The processing software SLIM can then provide
the final 3D model by merging, smoothing and thinning. Please
